●How big is it?
→Google charged with $90 million as click fraud class action lawsuit settlement
filed by Lane's Gifts & Collectibles (July 2006)
→15% of all clicks are fraudulent
→Threat to web advertisers costing as much as $1billion annually
:By 2008 projected cost - $1.6billion annually●Where does it come from?
→Major Source ? Content network sites
:Redistributed ads through domain parking sites
●What are Fictitious clicks ?
→Click bots (automated clicking programs (powered by anonymizers?))
:disguise PC’s identifier/IP address and space clicks to seem normal→Paid to Read sites (PTR)
→Spam, Phishing/Webpage spoofing
:entice users to click on links through email, popular sites, viral content - thus causing visits to ads
→Low detection probability through Facade and dual personality sites
:leading to new web metrics
